Obituary for Mack V. Godfrey, Jr.

Age 68, of Upper St. Clair, went home to Heaven on Sunday, September 9, 2018. He was born in Cedar Grove, WV on January 17, 1950 to the late McVernon and Mable (Wilson) Godfrey. He was a 32-year employee of Columbia Gas of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, most recently as a Major Accounts Manger. Mack served as a longtime leader for the Boy Scouts of America, both for Troop 366 and for the Greater Pittsburgh and Laurel Highlands Council. For over 20 years, he volunteered as a judge for the Pennsylvania, Maryland, and National History Day contests. He was a member of the Leadership Pittsburgh class of 1998. Mack served several years on the Board of the American Institute of Architects and on the board of the Pittsburgh Regional Clean Cities. Mack was the first African-American President of the West Virginia Jaycees and was a member of Alpha Phi Omega International Service Fraternity. He was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, serving as a longtime usher and on various committees. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Math and Electrical Engineering from the West Virginia Institute of Technology. He is survived by his loving wife, Liza Godfrey; his son, Kellan Godfrey; his daughter, Ashley Tisdale (Willie); his granddaughters: Jameson, Carson, and Mason; his sister, Janet Godfrey; as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11 AM in Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park.
