Obituary for Alice R. Kubasky

Age 100, of Canonsburg, died in North Strabane Retirement Village, Canonsburg, PA on Monday, December 10, 2018. She was born on October 7, 1918 in Washington, PA, one of 11 children to the late Willam and Alice Ireland Bird. A lifelong resident of Canonsburg, she attended Canonsburg schools and graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1937. A member of the First Baptist Church of Canonsburg for many years, she participated in the Lady’s Mission and sewing circle, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and became involved in many other church activities. She was married to Louis A. Kubasky on August 30, 1947. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially singing and playing the piano with her sisters. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling with her sisters and daughters to nearby glass factories and outlet stores. Sewing, reading, poetry, and listening to gospel music were her favorite pastimes. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Dunn and husband Tom of Washington, PA and Lois Duffy and husband Kevin of Wilmington, DE; two grandchildren, Tom Dunn and wife Lori of Canonsburg and Eileen Roberts and husband Ken of Wilmington, DE; a great-grandchild expected in December; a sister, Dorothy Jean Stanko; a sister-in-law, Mildred Kubacki; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are her husband, Louis A., who died on November 1, 1976, as well as her sisters and brothers: Beatrice M. Meredith, William J. Bird, Jeanette L. Bird, Florence V. Bird, Nellie M. Alderson, Ruth E. Wilson, Richard H. Bird, Freda A. Amorose, and W. Lawrence Bird. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUER-BOGAN, 724-745-5810. Friends and Family are welcome on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at 164 West Pike Street, Canonsburg where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM.
