Age 95, of Brookline, on Thursday, December 6, 2018. Beloved Wife of the late Howard Trout and Paul Steranka; Loving Mother of Paul (Sylvie) Steranka Jr., Frank (Edith) Steranka, Evelyn (Craig) Scott, and Roberta (Randy Reedy) O'Rourke; Cherished Grandmother of Michael (Rachel) Steranka, Elaine Steranka, Benjamin Scott, Mark Steranka, Julie Steranka, and Emma Scott; Dear Sister-in-Law of Helen Leahy; also survived by many nieces and nephews. An alumna of Geneva College and the University of Pittsburgh, Betty worked as a research assistant for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and Magee Women's Hospital. She was very active in the Brookline and Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Churches. She enjoyed singing in the Char-Val singers, had a lifelong love of music, and was an avid reader. A Memorial Service will be held in Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 3 PM. Inurnment will be private.
